Lions and Tigers and...Giraffes, Oh my!

Last Saturday we took Sipsey to the zoo for the first time. We are now members, so we can go whenever we want for free for the next year! It was SO crowded because it was Spring Break for a lot of kids. People came out of the woodworks to be at the zoo. We had a great time and Sipsey really enjoyed it. The only sad part is that we lost lovey while we were there and no one turned him in to Lost and Found. It was our favorite lovey and I'm not really sure how we'll manage with only two left. Maybe it's time to give up loveys anyway. I think Ben and I were more broken-hearted than Sipsey.

This is the last picture of lovey ever taken (he's the pink blanket in Sipsey's lap and I don't know why I call him "he"). :(

Sipsey was more interested in my sunglasses most of the time.

Sipsey loves to wear her own sunglasses too!

How we ate breakfast

This morning at breakfast, Sipsey all of sudden stopped eating her French toast and started pointing into the den and barking. I knew she wanted her doggie but told her she could have it when she finished eating. Well she refused to finish her breakfast, so I finally gave it to her. This is how she ate the rest of her breakfast. Please note her black eye 8 days later!

What Happens at Grandma's Stays at Grandma's

Well just on our second day in Dothan, Sipsey got in a fight with Mom's marble coffee table, and I think the coffee table might have won. These pictures were taken on Thursday when I thought the black eye was bad. As with all bruises, hers has now turned into a dark purple/blue/green/yellow blend. It's beautiful. I was asked about it EVERY single place we took her the rest of our time in Dothan. Maybe by asking, people were assuring themselves that we weren't abusing her. Regardless, they all definitely wanted to know what happened. We had lots of fun even with a black eye. More posts to come!

Wednesday Night Supper

I am in Dothan right now with Sipsey. It's my last Spring Break as a graduate student, so I am taking advantage. It's no crazy Spring Break at PCB or anything, but we are having fun. Last night we went to Wednesday night supper at my home church. I don't think I have been to Wednesday night supper there since I was in elementary or middle school. It was fun to go back! Sipsey is teething (notice the snotty nose) and has not been really hungry lately, so we let her run free in the Fellowship Hall. She thought the salad bar was particularly entertaining. Then I took her into the gym and she loved the balls! We don't have any balls at our house. I guess that is what having a girl does to you! We have tons of babies, stuffed animals, purses and cell phones, but no balls. They are next on my list of toys to buy her.

Sipsey in her "sassy seat." Remember those? I was terrified she was going to throw a fit and buck herself out of this thing!

The salad bar. It looks a lot like the tunnel at the playground.

Sipsey was burying her face into the balls and laughing hysterically. Then she rolled off onto the gym floor and hit her head. It's carpeted but I think it's a concrete slab underneath. That was the end of the fun last night!

How do YOU do it?

This is not my usual type of post. It has nothing to do with Sipsey, so stop reading if that's the reason you're here! I'll have more fun stuff about Sipsey-girl after the weekend.

Something has been bothering me. All over the place, I see women wearing their wedding rings differently than I do. For one thing, I have seen a few people wearing theirs on the their right hands. I don't know where they got that idea, but I think some cultures do it that way. So what's really been confusing me is all the women I see wearing their engagement ring first and then putting on the wedding band. I always thought you put the wedding band on first and then the wedding ring. My sister even does it backwards! I keep telling her she is doing it wrong and then when I see her again, do you think she has changed it? No! So I Yahooed it (yes I just said Yahooed. I use Yahoo email and I like their search engine too!) and it turns out I'M RIGHT! Ok, well, all sources say you can do whatever you want, but it's most common to put on the wedding band first and then the engagement ring. That way, if you go to exercise or garden or some other activity where the ring may be damaged, you just take off the engagement ring and all that's left is the band. Makes sense to me. So how do y'all do it?
