Fun with new friends

Ben has several coworkers who have children Sipsey's age. They (their wives) have been really sweet to include us in fun activities during the week. One day, we all decided to visit the children's museum in Little Rock. It was a great way to spend a COLD day indoors burning off some energy. At the time, there was one 3 year old, two 2 year olds, 8 month old twins, and a 2 month old (and 3 moms)! The 2 year olds, the twins and the other mom rode with me! It was a fun day. I think I slept better than Sipsey that night! :)

Sipsey got a filling the day before (yes, a tooth filling, meaning she had a cavity) and when the anesthesia was wearing off, the skin around her mouth was itchy and she scratched it until it bled. Hence, the rash-looking thing on her face.

Naptime Sneakiness

For Sipsey's nap, I send her to her room and tell her she can play quietly or take a nap. She always chooses to play for a little while before she takes a nap. Unfortunately, the playing-quietly-with-her-door-closed instruction is a little too tempting to play with things she isn't supposed to play with. We have a video monitor that I use to check on her periodically, but I did not catch this. As many of you know, hospitals now send samples of formula home with new moms in hopes that they will hook the newborns on a certain brand so the moms will buy it exclusively for the first year of the baby's life (and this strategy works). I brought home probably 50 tiny bottles of ready-to-use Similac with the nipples provided in sterilized wrappers. We used the formula to supplement Sipsey's bottles starting at 5-6 months old, but never needed the nipples. I saved them because I save EVERYTHING that I just might use again (or I thought I could donate them). But now, there are none left because Sipsey found them and opened every single one and was thrilled to tell me about all the pacifiers she found (and there were way more than the photos show!)!

Snow Day!

We have had so much snow in Arkansas this year! All the locals have assured us that this is not the norm and we just happened to move here the coldest winter in 10 years. I hope they are right! Back in January, we were heading back to Arkansas one Sunday from Birmingham where we had been to a wedding over the weekend. We knew the snow was coming (everyone was acting as if the Apocalypse was near), so we left Birmingham bright and early to beat the storm. We pulled into town just as the snow and ice began falling from the sky. Right when we got home, Sipsey wanted to play in the snow immediately.

Someone's into silly faces lately.

The next day, schools were closed, as was Ben's work. Ben's coworker invited us over (I stayed home under the covers) to play in even more snow that fell overnight. They had a snowsuit just Sipsey's size to keep her warm and dry.

This is how we "sled" in the country! I have never seen so many four wheelers hauling people through the snow. Much different from Birmingham! Ben said Sipsey loved it!

Then everyone warmed up inside with the Wii!

No idea what is going on here but I'm pretty sure Sipsey inherited it.
