Pumpkin Patch
Thank you for the supportive comments on the last post. It really, really {truly} makes me feel better to know that others are going through or went through the same thing {as I have too, but we so soon forget}. Those encouraging words help me make it through the day, seriously. Wheeler has been pretty much sleeping only in his carseat at night now. After knowing that others did it too made me feel much better. Last night he slept 7.5 hours! I, of course, didn't get that much because I was up every 3 making sure he was still breathing. I doubt this is something that will stick because the night before, he was up every 2. But at least we are making some progress!
Just like the rest of America this month, we made our annual Fall visit to the pumpkin patch over the weekend. We found a great one on the way to Little Rock that happened to be offering half off admission through Groupon. I had some Groupon bucks from people buying through my link, so we got to go for free {it would have cost $21}! We decided to have a marathon day including a morning trip to the pumpkin patch, lunch in Little Rock at Chick-fil-A, and shopping trips to Target and the mall to find Sipsey new shoes. I was a little nervous about how Wheeler would do, but he was fine! I only had to nurse him once during the 8 hours we were gone because he sleeps in the car {or during any motion/movement} like a champ! His sleeping that night was a different story, but I digress.

Sipsey loves her ruby slippers from Granny. I could not convince her that they weren't good pumpkin patch shoes, but I was unsuccessful.

I'm all about dressing up the kids in matching smocked outfits (they were inexpensive and they only have about one month to wear pumpkin-themed outfits, so I let them wear them out!), but I couldn't wrap my mind around why someone would wear this ensemble to the pumpkin patch with hay rides and pig races and a petting zoo.

They had a "sandbox" full of corn.
Sipsey loved the way the corn felt and "wallered" all around in it. I had to drag her out!
So sad to leave.
She managed a smile because we were headed to Chick-fil-A next!

7 Weeks & Sipsey too!
Wheeler is 7 weeks old now. He's still not sleeping through the night...not even close. That is the one thing I am waiting for. Ben and I have had no conversation in 7 weeks. We would always sit down after Sipsey was in bed and just talk, catch up, and watch a little tv together. We can't accomplish this with Sipsey awake because we are interrupted constantly. She has a 6th sense for adults trying to have a personal conversation or trying to talk on the phone. The more important the person on the other line, the more desperate she is for attention it seems. Please tell me we aren't the only ones going through this.
Now Wheeler usually goes to sleep in the 8 o'clock hour. His longest sleep cycle is the first one so if we don't go to bed right when he does, we will miss our one opportunity for 3.5 hours of sleep at a time! I am praying for the day that he decides to sleep through the night...even if that is only 5 or 6 hours! I have had one sleep cycle of 5 hours, but my body is so used to less that it woke up after 3.5 wondering why my my child hadn't woken up yet!
Despite not sleeping through the night, Wheeler is falling into a schedule. And at night, he does know that it's night and falls back to sleep immediately after nursing. For that I am thankful. He sleeps in the swing at night! Is this wrong? Where have your babies slept those first several weeks??? We have tried the cradle over and over and he won't sleep longer than 1.5 hours! He is asleep in his carseat now and has been for about 3 hours! Maybe we'll switch up the swing with the carseat at night because he ain't having the cradle!
Sipsey is a very good big sister, especially in the car when I really need her. She's a pro at putting the paci back in Wheeler's mouth and moving the sun shade to block the sun! She still doesn't want to go to school and cries when I drop her off those two days a week. She ends up loving it and having a blast though. Strangely, she loves dance class and tells me to drop her off then come back and get her. Maybe because it's only 1 hour, she doesn't get upset.
I am blogging from my phone for the first time. Maybe this will help me blog a little more frequently! I don't think I can label these pictures directly.
First is the kids last Sunday on our first trip back to church (we didn't last the whole service).
Next is the first grocery trip with both kids. It was a success!
Then there's Sipsey before pajama day at school. She didn't fuss about going on PJ Day!
Next is Sipsey watching a movie at the dining room table in a diaper box turned kitty cat house.
