7 Weeks & Sipsey too!

Wheeler is 7 weeks old now. He's still not sleeping through the night...not even close. That is the one thing I am waiting for. Ben and I have had no conversation in 7 weeks. We would always sit down after Sipsey was in bed and just talk, catch up, and watch a little tv together. We can't accomplish this with Sipsey awake because we are interrupted constantly. She has a 6th sense for adults trying to have a personal conversation or trying to talk on the phone. The more important the person on the other line, the more desperate she is for attention it seems. Please tell me we aren't the only ones going through this.

Now Wheeler usually goes to sleep in the 8 o'clock hour. His longest sleep cycle is the first one so if we don't go to bed right when he does, we will miss our one opportunity for 3.5 hours of sleep at a time! I am praying for the day that he decides to sleep through the night...even if that is only 5 or 6 hours! I have had one sleep cycle of 5 hours, but my body is so used to less that it woke up after 3.5 wondering why my my child hadn't woken up yet!

Despite not sleeping through the night, Wheeler is falling into a schedule. And at night, he does know that it's night and falls back to sleep immediately after nursing. For that I am thankful. He sleeps in the swing at night! Is this wrong? Where have your babies slept those first several weeks??? We have tried the cradle over and over and he won't sleep longer than 1.5 hours! He is asleep in his carseat now and has been for about 3 hours! Maybe we'll switch up the swing with the carseat at night because he ain't having the cradle!

Sipsey is a very good big sister, especially in the car when I really need her. She's a pro at putting the paci back in Wheeler's mouth and moving the sun shade to block the sun! She still doesn't want to go to school and cries when I drop her off those two days a week. She ends up loving it and having a blast though. Strangely, she loves dance class and tells me to drop her off then come back and get her. Maybe because it's only 1 hour, she doesn't get upset.

I am blogging from my phone for the first time. Maybe this will help me blog a little more frequently! I don't think I can label these pictures directly.

First is the kids last Sunday on our first trip back to church (we didn't last the whole service).

Next is the first grocery trip with both kids. It was a success!

Then there's Sipsey before pajama day at school. She didn't fuss about going on PJ Day!

Next is Sipsey watching a movie at the dining room table in a diaper box turned kitty cat house.

And finally sweet Wheeler asleep in my lap!

They are both adorable. Like I've told you before these newborn tough days will be over before you know it. Simms slept in a swing till she was 7 months! Cope slept in a car seat that had been Simms for a few.weeks then we got a nap nanny which we kept in his crib even though it says not to. He loved it, he slept great, and we used it till he was almost a year old!!

Lauren, I totally understand every word in your post. Two is totally different than one!! Watson slept in his boppy pillow swaddled almost sitting straight up for about 12 or 13 weeks. he seemed cozy and seemed to like it, so we just kept doing it until he was too big. Just a thought. He went through some strange sleep cycles. He started doing really good w/sleep, then bad, then good then bad. It was frustrating to say the least! But, you will survive b/c you have no other choice!! Somehow you just keep going even w/no sleep! Both of your babies are beautiful. I'll say a prayer for y'all that tonight will be a great night w/some longer stretches for baby boy!!

benentt does the exact same thing about conversations and phones. "momma.. momma...momma...i need to ask you a question/show you something/blah blah" ALWAYS. hes starting to get better bc i threaten him within an inch of his life {ha} but its still out of control.
both my kids slept in the boppy newborn lounger {the one that looks like a baby bean bag chair} until they were three months old. they NEVER wanted to sleep just in a bed on their back. i dont blame them.

have you tried "dream feeding" him? like putting him to bed at 7 or so, then going back in there riiiight before yall go to bed {which was always 9:30 or 10 for me} and feeding him, even if he didnt wake up for it, just to add a little extra umph in his tummy? it worked for both of mine. good luck!
if only babies were EASY and PREDICTABLE!
ha!

You are familiar with AJ, the child who never sleeps. I hope Wheeler grows out of it soon. AJ did sleep some in the cradle swing when she was tiny - it was my favorite thing on earth, next to my breast pump. :) AJ also will not let me talk on the phone. Maybe we should just let them talk to each other for a few minutes and get a couple seconds of (relative) peace. :) - Laura

Oh my goodness...we totally have the non-stop-talking-and-interrupting problem with Jacob. Drives me crazy!!

auren...this is totally embarassing, but Sam slept in that dang swing until he was over a year old. We went from the swing to a toddler bed. He Hated the crib! I know it is tough. And when you are trying to recover from pregnancy and not sleeping, you just don't feel like yourself. It is hard...i know. You are doing great. And everything you are feeling is completely normal!! You are a good momma!!

Lauren that is the ONLY time my children ever wanted to talk to me! I think every child does it to their parents! You probably did it to your mom too! haha Don't have any advice on the sleeping, both of mine were great sleepers! I'm with you, let him sleep where ever he will sleep! :)
