Look what I can do!

Well it finally happened. Sipsey found the camera for her video monitor and boy was she proud of herself! I've had it "mounted" on the end of her crib with that tacky stuff so I didn't have to drill holes anywhere. I also don't have a shelf or a piece of furniture close enough to her crib to put it on. One afternoon after putting her down for a nap, Ben all of a sudden looked over his shoulder at the monitor and said, "What is Sipsey doing?!" We saw an upside down Sipsey on the monitor but this is what we found in her room.

AU v LSU

I'm a little behind on my blogging, so I'm going to start with the Auburn/LSU game. Ben and I decided we wanted to go to at least one AU game this season and what a better game than LSU! My mom and sister came to keep Sipsey for the weekend. It was our first time away from her together. and my first time away from her EVER! We did great :) and so did she! I had to make myself not call Mom 100 times on Friday on the way down to Auburn. On Saturday, I got a good report so I was able to relax and enjoy myself. Ben and I got down there just in time to eat at Provino's Friday night, and it was just as delicious as we remembered. Saturday, Ben woke up and got breakfast at Chick-fil-a while he was picking up our chicken strip tray that he WON from Fox6 News. One morning, they asked to fill in the line following: "War Eagle fly down the field." Well Ben called in and got it right, of course! Back to Saturday: we tailgated all day, watched the game on TV with friends, and then partied all night long.......not really, we went back to my cousin's house and went to bed. THANKS COLBY FOR LETTING US STAY ALL WEEKEND!!!!!!!

9 months

Sipsey turned 9 months old on September 18. Her doctor's appointment was on Sept. 19. We had a good report. Sipsey is doing everything a 9 month old should be doing, which is always good to hear! I love our pediatrician. If everything looks good, she tells you that your child is perfect. What parent doesn't want to hear that? Her weight was 18 lbs. 3 oz. (50th %tile) and her length was 28 in. (80th %tile). At 6 months, her weight was in the 25th percentile, so the doc was glad that she is fattening up. She got a flu shot and has to go back next month for the rest of it.

Here are some things Sipsey likes to do now:

• Army crawl all over the place. The hardwood floors are her favorite...much easier to glide across the floor.
• Pull up in her bed and on furniture! Finally...I thought this would never happen! Maybe her small size had something to do with it.
  
• Chew on everything STILL. She is cutting her top teeth but the one about to break through is her lateral incisor. That's the one next to the front teeth! Everyone says she should be a vampire for Halloween. I already have a costume for her but I'm not telling what it is yet. Y'all will have to wait for the pictures!
• Play in the bathtub. She absolutely LOVES the water. I wish we could have gotten in the pool more this summer.
• Stick out her tongue and make pooting sounds. Parenting magazine calls this "blowing raspberries." I prefer "pooting noise."
• Squeal and shriek at the top of her lungs when she's really happy like in the tub and when I pick her up from daycare.
• Eat table food. Baby food does not interest her anymore. So far she has had (and loves it all!) mashed potatoes, green beans, bananas, English muffins, Puffs, rice, spaghetti, and a lot more that I can't remember right now.
• Listen to music. Anytime any music comes on she starts bouncing up and down and kicking her legs. She also loves when Ben and I sing "You are my Sunshine." When she's upset, especially when she's fussy in her carseat, we'll start singing it, and she immediately calms down. No other song works. It's the strangest, but sweetest, thing.

Down on the Farm

Last week we were invited to have dinner with some friends who live in Winterboro, AL. They live in a cute house on the family farm. We were worried about taking Sipsey somewhere for dinner so far away (about 45 minutes). She did great and we even got out and played a little. She got to swing for a bit and loved it. I was terrified that she would lunge forward to look over the edge and crack her head open. Have you ever seen a cuter leg with so many rolls in it? Thanks Thomas and Robin for a delicious meal! I had two hotdogs for dinner tonight, so my mouth is watering just thinking about chicken marsala.

War Eagle

Sipsey says War Eagle! We are very excited to be able to watch the game on TV this weekend. Since we don't have cable, we can't watch the games when they come on ESPN channels. It will be on The CW network in Birmingham this weekend, and fortunately, this is one of the 7 networks we pick up. Football season is the only time we miss not having cable, but I think we'll live. Ben discovered last weekend that if you have AT&T internet (which we do) you have free access to tons of football games on ESPN360! He watched AU play last weekend for free! Our laptop screen is not near a large as our TV, but we're not complaining. Have a great weekend and WAR EAGLE!!!

The Destroyer

My last post was about Sipsey pulling on her bumpers. Well the other day, she woke up from her nap and this is the condition her bed was in! The ties were TIED by the way, but she pulls on them until they become undone. The tie right above her head in the picture was soaking wet from her chewing on it.

Later the same day, I laid her down for the night. When I went back in the den, I saw on our video monitor that she was laying her head on the bumper like it was a pillow! What is up with this child? She is determined to destroy her bedding.
