I don't talk much about Dad on my blog just yet, but I may gradually feel more comfortable about it. For now, I just want to share a touching story about my parents' next door neighbors. Two sweet girls live next door to Mom and Dad. I think they are around 12 and 13. They LOVED Dad as much as Mary Ashley and I did. They would come over to the house after school just to hang out with him or early in the morning while they were waiting on the bus. For those who know Dad, he loved picking on them as much as they loved being picked on by him! While I was home for Spring Break, one of the girls asked my mom if she could have "Mr. Mark's Sperry shoes." I'm sure all of you know the shoes - boat shoes or dock shoes, as I have always called them. Dad has worn these as long as I can remember. Well you might've also noticed that they have become very popular with middle and high school kids, especially with girls, who wear them with everything. This next door neighbor has a pair and she said that Mr. Mark would always brag to her that he had several pairs of those shoes and he had them WAY before she even thought about having a pair! So she wanted Mr. Mark's Sperry shoes because she wanted to hang them in a shadow box on the wall in her bedroom! Could you imagine having someone love you and look up to you so much that they wanted a pair of your SHOES to hang on their wall?! We laughed at the time, but thinking about it later brought me to tears. I don't know why God chooses to take people when He does or the manner in which He does it, but it's so hard to accept losing someone so young, who meant so much not only to his family, but also to those people he encountered on a regular basis, whose lives he had touched in such a way that we would never even know until they tell us!Friday, March 28, 2008

There Went Peter Cottontail!
I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We went to church for the first time since Sipsey was born! I read other blogs of couples with babies younger than Sipsey, and they have all already been back to church. I just wasn't brave enough for that, considering that it was flu season (we are germophobes in this house) and that Sipsey probably wouldn't have behaved. But the good news is that Sipsey slept for the entire church service in my arms; I even stood up for and sang all the hymns. It was precious, and all the people around us thought she was an angel (which she is :)). After church, Anna and Ben Barron invited us over for Easter lunch. It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! She made country fried steak, chicken kiev, butter beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and for dessert, chocolate trifle. I'm drooling just thinking about it again. It was so nice to spend the day with family, even if it wasn't with all the family!

Rolling Over!
Last week when I was in Dothan, Sipsey learned a new trick! I would put her in the Pack N Play to sleep on her tummy, and when she would wake up to eat, she would be on her back! It was so funny to find her looking up at the ceiling like, "How in the world did I do this?" Here are some pictures from Dothan and Birmingham.
She also likes to just roll over to her side and play with and eat her blanket! The only problem is that as soon as she rolls over to her back, she can't go back to sleep because she won't sleep on her back - the reason we had to start to putting her to sleep on her tummy! Fortunately, she is still sleeping through the night. It's only during her naps in the day that she rolls over to her back prematurely and is ready to get up. But I think that's just a sign that she's ready to start taking shorter naps and stay awake longer in between them! She thinks she's such a big girl!

3 months old already?
Wow! Sipsey is 3 months old today. She is such a precious girl. She eats around 8, 12, 4 and 8. She'll stay awake about an hour and a half after eating and then go to sleep until it's time to eat again. After her 8 pm meal, she'll go to bed around 9:30 and then sleep until 7 or 8 in the morning! Here are some pictures I took of her today.

Lesson in diapering
I know it's been driving y'all crazy that I haven't updated in ONE MONTH! This means that Sipsey is 3 months old now! Anyway, I had midterms and then I went to Dothan for Spring Break. I have LOTS to blog about but for now, I'd like to share this story. Ben changed Sipsey's diaper last night and brought her to me to eat. Her nightgown had come up around her legs so I reached around behind her to pull it back down. This is what I found!

One side of the diaper was all the way in her cute little crack. Isn't that the cutest dimpled butt you've ever seen? Ben laughed and laughed when I showed him what he had done. He said he could not get the diaper on for some reason (Sipsey loves to kick her legs when she's lying on her back. This can make diaper changing very difficult.) and he knew there was something wrong. He's usually a very good diaper changer. Well, that's all for now. I'll post lots more stories and pictures throughout the week. In other news, Sipsey is rolling over now!
