Sipsey Update and Google Reader

Sipsey's blood work results came back normal. Still, something is making her anemic. The doctor said she might have a genetic trait that causes her to not produce enough iron or something like that. So, it's not enough of a problem to make the tests come back abnormal, but just enough to have to do something about it. She is now on a multivitamin with iron (Poly-Vi-Sol), which she takes everyday. Easy solution right? WRONG! It tastes and smells HORRIBLE. The side of the box says "great fruit flavor!" I don't know what fruit it is, but it must be rotten! Sipsey hates it. They say you can put it in juice or food, but I think it would ruin the taste of whatever you put it in. She's taken it the past two days a little reluctantly, but after last night, I don't think she'll be fooled again. All the reviews I've read say the same thing and they also say it stains clothes! Oh the things we do for our child's health. The doctor will check her blood again at 15 months, and see if it has gotten any better.

I also wanted to share with everyone a wonderful thing called Google Reader. You have all your blogs (and anything else you'd like to subscribe to, like news feeds, etc.) in one place! All you do is click on the link above and sign up! It did take me forever to enter all the blogs I read (yes there are WAY more than the links to the right!), but after that, it's wonderful! Now I just sign in to Google Reader one or two (or three or four or five) times a day and it tells me who has updated. If you have a Google blog, I think you already have a Google account so you shouldn't have to make up a new user name and password. Anyway, try it out! It'll make your life much easier.

Now I'll leave you with pictures from the dreadful ER experience in Dothan. It's not easy entertaining a toddler who can't walk (not that I'd want her to in the hospital), therefore who you must hold for SIX hours while waiting for the doctor to give you the wrong diagnosis!

Climbing up the bed.

She must've been going after something really good.

Seriously, the whole ordeal was exhausting. I'm surprised she didn't leave there with a new infection (just for the record we had cleaned the entire length of the bedrail with an antimicrobial wipe and alcohol).

Wow. What a chaotic Christmas and Birthday week. Looks like it was fun minus the hospital visit and such. I have a heart murmur. I had it as a kid and I'm pretty sure it is still there so if that makes you feel any better I'm okay. I hate that she is anemic... does it make her sluggish at all? Poor baby. She is precious and I love looking at all those pictures of her.... especially the hospitals ones. I can only imagine how "fun" that was.

Glad to hear it all worked out. Sipsey, I'm so sorry your vitamin tastes yucky, but I know your mommy would take it for you if she could! You girls hang in there and maybe eventually they'll come out with "ripe" fruit vitamins instead of "rotten" ones!

Poly-vi-sol is so disgusting!!! I'm sorry! Some pharmacies can flavor it, but I hear it is pretty bad no matter what. I hope it helps her anemia though. We need to get together for a playdate soon. Maybe we can all go for a walk soon...if it warms up!
