I apologize for taking so long to update. It was really hard getting back to Birmingham and catching up on my school work and getting back to "normal," whatever that may mean. It was further complicated by the fact that Sipsey was ONLY breastfed while we were in Dothan for almost 2 weeks, and when we got back to Birmingham, she decided she ONLY wanted to breastfeed. She would NOT drink from a bottle (it was common for her to go 8 hours or more without eating until I could make it home from class). I won't bore you with the details, but I was stressed out! We ended up buying several different types of bottle/nipple combos and finally found relief with the OLD SCHOOL Playtex brown latex nipple!
The day after we returned, Sipsey had her one month checkup at the doctor (almost 2 weeks late). She was in the 90th percentile for height and weight...surprise surprise! We always have fun at the doctor and this time we met these sweet little girls who wanted to feed her Goldfish crackers when I told them Sipsey was hungry. They had just been arguing about not wanting to share with each other but were dying to help Sipsey feel better. They were precious. I hope Sipsey is that generous when she grows up! Her 2 month checkup is next week and she gets several vaccinations. I have no idea how that's gonna go, but I think we'll have a poor pitiful baby to take care of after that.
Another update: The night we got home from Dothan, Sipsey slept through the night (if you count "the night" from around 9 or 10 pm to 5 am!). I thought she was just exhausted from being passed around to hundreds of friends and family members, but she has been doing that for 2 weeks now. She always goes back to sleep when she's finished eating and sleeps even more until about 8 am! We are so excited about this. Sometimes I decide to go ahead and start my morning at 5 and other times I go back to bed. She is wonderful and so good now and we couldn't ask for a cooler baby!
Now for the proud mama rant. Sipsey is SO MUCH FUN NOW!!! She has been for the past several weeks. She is interactive and smiles and coos at Mommy and Daddy and Sweet P (my Mom). I feel like for the first 4 weeks, we simply existed. Now we are really living (I used to think "really living" did not include an 8 week old baby)! Once we got back to Birmingham from our extended trip to Dothan, she has been a dream. She loves her playmat and her swing and her jungle scene with lights and music that hangs on the side of her crib. She LOVES taking baths and hates getting out of the tub. As a matter of fact, we took out the newborn sling and let her take a real bath. She loves the warm water. I think that's all the bragging I have right now. Y'all probably don't even care and just want to see pictures, so here they are.

I can't believe how much she has grown in just a month's time. I just emailed Marlene to tell her I was ready to visit again! I hope we can come see you three soon.
