ANSWERS!

I finally know why Sipsey has been acting so rotten the past couple of weeks. This morning I stuck my finger in her mouth to check for teeth, like I've been doing since she was about 3 months old, and I felt a TOOTH! It's her bottom left one poking through the gum! You would think she had just learned to walk or something by the way I acted. I've been blaming everything on teething since she started drooling at 2 months and now I know it really was the truth. Well at least the most recent episodes of runny noses and fussiness. Her pediatrician checked her mouth on Wednesday for teeth and saw nothing.

Now I need some advice for soothing those achy gums. I personally don't want to use anything filled with water that you can freeze. I don't trust the water or gel inside. Right now we are chewing on "Mr. Woodchuck." He is a hard plastic character with soft rubbery edges that must feel good to her gums. She really has been a good teether, I guess. She is still sleeping through the night. She has been fussy lately, but I just feed her and she's A-OK. Does it get worse? Better? What should I expect? People have told me they might stop sleeping through night when they are teething. We MUST continue sleeping through the night! Any suggestions are welcome!

Oh Lauren! Jacob stopped sleeping thru the night for about 6 weeks and teething was totally to blame. His 3rd tooth finally popped thru last week and good sleep has been back for a couple of weeks now. We gave him Motrin every night (per the pediatrician's direction) before bed and put baby Orajel on his gums. We have a ton of teethers but I don't freeze them and he seems to like them just fine room temp. A clean washcloth with one end wet with cold water is also an inexpensive help for them to suck on. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Bless your heart and Sipsey's. I can't promise that the worst is over, it's different for all babies. The wet washcloth is great! We used the baby orajel only when absolutely necessary, some say it toughens the gums and makes it harder for the teeth to break through. Tylenol and Motrin help a lot as well. Ella doesn't sleep or eat as well when she's teething, but usually drinks A LOT!! The back teeth, molars and canines usually cause upset tummies and the poop will smell different, so don't freak out. Also, low-grade fever is normal, I would freak out at the sight of ANY warmness, but it is ok. Best of luck in the new venture, we'll pray for you guys!!

Yea! William slept through the night even while teething. Just give her some children's motrin or tylenol before bedtime for the pain. Orajel didn't work for us. He sucks his pacifier if he wakes up during the night.

Hey Lauren...just to clarify on the Motrin...We did not give Jacob Motrin for 6 weeks! I read back over my post and realized how horrible it sounded! I think we did it for about a week or so! :-)
